Water Rescue In Miami County, Kansas

Over the weekend, Emergency personnel from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Osawatomie Volunteer Fire Department, and Miami County EMS responded to a water rescue in the area of 347th Street and Hospital Drive in Miami County, KS, after a driver drove into flooded roadways and became stranded.

The occupants, two adults and a juvenile, who did not know how to swim, made the situation even more dangerous for themselves and the responders working to reach them. All occupants were rescued and safe and there were no injuries to anyone involved.

With the threat of more spring rain and storms, the Miami County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public: Turn around, don’t drown!

Never attempt to drive through flooded roadways. It only takes a small amount of moving water to sweep a vehicle away.
