Two Pettis County Deputies Shot While Serving Warrant

Two Pettis County deputies are recovering from gunshot wounds Friday morning after attempting to serve a warrant related to drug charges.

Law enforcement stated that the two deputies responded to a residence in the 2700 block of Missouri BB Highway in Pettis County — between Sedalia and Marshall Junction — about 6 a.m. for the warrant.

The suspect is reported to have pulled a gun and fired at the deputies, striking them. One deputy returned fire, but the suspect was not hit.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the suspect was taken into custody after the incident and booked into the Pettis County Jail.

One of the injured deputies was treated and released while the other is still hospitalized and expected to recover.
