That number was reduced to around 1000 out of power as of Wednesday evening. Evergy, Barton county electric, and Sac Osage are working diligently to get power restored to those still without power.

A Volunteer station is set up at the centennial Hall building on the fairgrounds with staff and volunteer first responders to assist.

The community is asked to be careful around power lines that are still down and they are getting them cleaned up as quick as they can. Also, beware around structures that are weak from the impact of the storm.

State agencies such as highway patrol and sema are on hand to assist with any needs and patrols have been increased. Vernon County Sheriff Beuhler states that LOOTING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!!

For those who have been displaced, there are places to stay at the community center and the American Red Cross the salvation army are making their rounds to assist with what is needed.
