Grappler Device Successfully Deployed to Stop Stolen Vehicle

Yesterday, just after 11 a.m., a deputy with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office successfully deployed the grappler — after assisting the Miami County Sheriff’s Office in the pursuit of a stolen vehicle.

Minutes before, dispatch advised deputies about the pursuit as it headed eastbound toward State Route 58.

The Cass County deputy set up a tire deflation device at the intersection of State Route D and 187th St. The suspect driving the vehicle hit the device, but continued driving.

The deputy caught up with the pursuit after deploying the device — and successfully grappled the suspect vehicle.

The driver was taken into custody near the intersection of State Route D and State Route 58 in Belton.

She has been identified as 35-year-old Carrie Jeter of Grandview. Jeter had an active Cass County warrant at the time of her arrest.

Jeter has since been charged with Aggravated Fleeing A Stop Or Detention (D Felony), Tampering With Motor Vehicle - 1st Degree (D Felony), and Operated A Motor Vehicle In A Careless And Imprudent Manner (B Misdemeanor).

Her cash only bond is set at $50,000.
