Just after 11am Wednesday, July 31, 2024, the Bates County Coroner, Greg D. Mullinax, was called to a residence in the 400 block of S. Lyon St. in Butler. A 63 year-old man was found deceased in his home following a wellbeing check requested by family who had not heard from him.
Although this gentleman would have been susceptible to heat issues, the home was well-cooled and the Coroner found no initial indication of hyperthermia.
