MU
Extension is providing information on how to grow herbs indoors year-round in a
hydroponic system at home. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants in
soilless cultivation where the plant nutrients, normally derived from the soil,
are simply dissolved in water, and taken up by roots suspended in the soilless
medium or directly in the solution. Because it is indoors, temperature and
light can be managed for production year-round. This way, homeowners can enjoy
fresh herbs anytime right from their patch. Tabletop hydroponic herb production
systems can be built with parts purchased at local home supply stores or ready
to use kits available on the internet. MU Extension is giving a free class on
how to grow herbs at home using hydroponics on July 29, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., at
the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 555 Walnut St., Osceola, MO. Two
tabletop hydroponic systems will be displayed and explained. Register by
calling the MU Extension Office in Osceola at 417-646-2419
