Butler Police Department Drug Arrest

On 07/16/2024, at approximately 1:00AM, a Butler Officer conducted a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet Camaro in the 1000 block of Elks Drive. During the traffic stop, the Butler Officer observed what he believed to be narcotics being held by the passenger, later identified as Jessica Scaman.
The Butler Officer then ordered both the passenger and the driver, identified as Bryan Woods out of the vehicle. The passenger advised the Butler Officer that the suspected narcotics were Xanax which she had no prescription for and heroin.
A search of the veheicle was conducted prior to Woods and Scaman being transported to the Bates County Jail. Once at the jail, both Scaman and Woods were taken through a scanner to ensure that there was no contraband on their persons that could be introduced into the jail. The body scan showed a bag in the groin area of Woods’s pants. The bag was retrieved and inside the bag was drug paraphernalia as well as multiple items that are suspected to be narcotics. Of those items was a bag of a white crystal like substance field testing positive for methamphetamines. The suspected methamphetamines weighed approximately 72.8 grams. The other suspected narcotics recovered from Woods will be sent to a crime lab for further testing.
On 07/16/2024 at approximately 11:30, the Butler Police Department executed a search warrant on Bryan Woods’s residence where multiple other items of drug paraphernalia were located and recovered.
On 07/16/2024, a warrant was issued for Bryan Woods with the following charges:
Trafficking Drugs - 2nd Degree
Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Woods is currently being held at the Bates County Jail with a bond amount of $500,000 Cash Only.
