Hello Butler,
The Osage Prairie YMCA had a bit of a rough
start in the first week of Grocery Grab, ending up with nearly 120 bags of
groceries left over due to a low turnout. In response, the food give away reduced
their order for week two but ended up running out of groceries. For week three,
they have increased their number of
sacks of groceries to accommodate the need,
so please come to get your free groceries even if it’s raining. The more
participants that show up for the Grocery Grab Bags, even if they do have to
turn away some, allows the YMCA to keep
increasing the orders weekly.
The Osage Prairie YMCA Free Grocery Sack
pick-up has to place the orders one
week ahead of time and base them on how many bags they actually distribute every Saturday morning each week.
For clarification, registration does not guarantee groceries; it helps them track
interest in the Grocery Grab and manage attendance by scanning your QR code.
This method is much easier than manually recording the names of kids and
parents in line, as the names of children and parents are required by state
regulations.
To register for the weekly grocery grab, see
the 92.1 Facebook page to gain access to the registration forms. For example
last week, in the grocery save were a dozen green apples, a loaf of bread, jar
of Peanut Butter, a jar of Grape Jelly, a gallon of milk, a quart of Pineapple
juice a box of graham crackers and more. They off a sack for each child in the
family.
We thank the YMCA for this provision for the
children in our area during the summer holiday.
After the registration, you may pick up your
groceries every Saturday morning starting at 9 am until the food is gone. This lasts through August during the summer vacation.
