A delicious hot baked potato lunch will be served Wednesday, March 13 at the Appleton City M.K.&T. Railroad Depot from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The large baked potatoes will be served with your choice of toppings of chili, broccoli, cheese, bacon and sour cream.  Drink and a serving of homemade cake are included for $10.  Come and visit as you enjoy your meal in the Depot or carry outs will be available.  All profits will be used by Appleton City Landmarks Restoration for maintenance of the 1870 M.K.&T. Depot, Old 1870 Library and Museum Complex.

 

The monthly Men’s Fellowship Breakfast at the Appleton City Church of God will be 7:00 a.m. Saturday March 9.  All the men of the community are invited to join them for a time of great food and fellowship. Brent Bland will have a short devotional. 

 

The Knights of Columbus will have their monthly pancake and sausage breakfast at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose on Sunday, March 10 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m.  Treat your family to a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up.  A free will donation will be greatly appreciated

 

The AC Rural Health Clinic will be providing FREE sports physicals at Appleton City High School and Montrose High School on March 12. ACHS and MHS are responsible for sending consent forms to parents/guardians.

 

St. Clair County Cattlemen's Assn. will meet 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 at Landmark Restaurant, Lowry City. The Speaker/Sponsor will be Shelby Skinner, Preferred Livestock Products‚ Year-round beef cattle nutrition.

 

March's Second Wednesdays, Meet Me On Main Shop and Stroll will be March 13, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Let Jina's Junque, Rural Roots, 3 Wishes (with live Irish music), Cork & Keg, and Bluebird Lounge help get you in the mood for St. Patrick's Day, Easter, spring and more.

 

Grace Christian Academy will have their 4th annual hog roast dinner with silent and live auctions fundraiser Saturday, March 9 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the Lowry City Civic Center, 4th & Cleveland in Lowry City.  The hog roast dinner for $10 includes meat, sides, dessert and drink. Children 4-12 years eat for $6, 3 and under are free.  Carry out is available.  Silent auction from 4:00 – 6:30 and live auction starts at 7:00 p.m.

 

Immaculate Conception Church’s last Lenten Fish Fry Dinner will be 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. March 15 in St. Mary’s School Hall, Montrose. They serve dine-in and carry out. The menu is fried fish, Suzy Q’s, cole saw, corn bread, cookies and a drink. Adults eat for $12, children under 10 for $6.

 

The ACHS Senior class panels for 2024 special school reunion years are on display at the Farm House Restaurant.  Those on display currently are the 55 year class of 1969, 60 year class of 1964, 65 year class of 1959 and the 70 year class of 1954.  The Museum apologizes for not displaying this year’s 50th class panel of 1974. Any class more recent than 1973 is in the high school commons area. The Appleton City Museum wishes to thank the restaurant for displaying the photo panels throughout the year.

 

The Appleton City Spring City Wide Garage Sales will be held April 26 and 27. Information regarding permits will be posted at a later date.

 

St Clair Co Quilt Guild will sponsor a Quilters and Crafters Day Out 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. March 23 at the Lowry City Community Center, 406 W. 4th St.  There will be a quilt exhibit, trunk show, vendors, quilter’s cake walk, food and more.  Admission is free.

 

A “Backyard Laying Hen Workshop” will be held 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. March 23 at the Forest Park Building, 206 East 5th St, Appleton City. What better gift for your children or loved ones at Easter than a Local Easter Basket? Rustic Duck has partnered with several local businesses to put together a local unique Easter Basket. The complete Easter Basket wrapped and ready is $45. They will take orders for these baskets until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14.  Baskets will be made and ready for pick up on Good Friday, March 29 at Rustic Duck Lake Art Gallery and Restaurant from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Check out the Rustic Duck Facebook page to order or stop by the Rustic Duck.

Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 10.  Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour. Fire Departments also recommend that it is a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.
