Today is Homecoming in Butler, and this year’s celebration includes a special opportunity to recognize a piece of Butler High School history.
Peggy
Davis Berkebile, a 1951 graduate of Butler High School, holds the distinction
of being the very
first Butler High School Homecoming Queen, receiving the honor
in 1948.
More
than seven decades later, Peggy will return to Butler today to attend the
Homecoming Parade and take part in this special celebration.
Her
place in Butler High School history makes today’s Homecoming even more
meaningful, as the community recognizes one of the women who helped establish a
tradition that has continued for generations.
If
you see Peggy during the Homecoming festivities this weekend, be sure to say
hello and congratulate her on being Butler High School’s very first Homecoming
Queen.
