Appleton City residential fall cleanup is taking place Tuesday, October 6 through Thursday, October 8. Large dumpsters are located at the Public Works Building, 110 S. Maple (across from the swimming pool). You will be responsible for getting your items into the roll-off containers. There will be 1 20 yard roll-off container for appliances, TV’s, computers and monitors available and 2 30 yard roll-off container will be available for sofas, carpets and other approved wastes. No tires, liquid paint, batteries, motor oils, concrete, cleaning solvents or yard waste can be accepted.
Join Appleton City Church of God for a special series as we transition into autumn and set aside this season to seek Him. In the busyness and distractions of life, it is easy to lose sight of what matters most. This special series is an opportunity to slow down, draw near to God, and be renewed in our desire to seek Him through worship, fellowship, and the Word of God. Services will be held Sunday, October 4 at 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and Monday through Wednesday, October 5–7 at 7:00 p.m. each evening. Special music will be provided by the Pollard Family, and services will be provided by Dr. Chad Pollard. Everyone is invited, and food and fellowship will follow the services. They hope you will join them for this special time together as we seek the Lord.
Saturday, October 3, area community families are invited to Living Waters Ranch for their 19th Annual Free Fall Festival! Hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Even if it rains a bit, the activities will continue as long as no lightening. Activities include archery, pony rides (noon-4:00 p.m.), BB guns with St. Clair County Sheriff’s Dept., zipline off the bluff, hayrides, barrel train, bucking machine and other bounce house, wild edibles (bugs, too!) giant slide, and more. And of course, there will be delicious concessions. As this is a free festival and the concessions money helps to offset the expenses for the day, they request no outside food or drink. Prices are very reasonable. Living Waters Ranch is located at 4520 SE 450 Road, Osceola, Missouri 64776. Come join in on a fantastic fall festival with your friends and family members. The next Special Touch Day Camp for special needs adults will be held on October 22 at the Osceola Assembly of God Church, north of Osceola right off 13 highway behind Osceola Cheese. The day will start at 10:00 a.m. with Sheriff Hilty bringing in a trained canine to demonstrate how they work with the officers. Following the program, lunch will consist of pulled pork sandwiches or beef hot dog and all the tasty sides that go well with sandwiches. On Saturday, October 17, Valley Center Church will host their 35th annual Oktoberfest. They are serving a German home cooked meal from 3:00-8:00 p.m. of smoked brats and turkey, German potato salad, homemade breads, desserts, a country store and more! Adults eat for $15. Children ages 6-12 eat for $3.00. You can help them support local food pantries by bringing a non-perishable food item and receive $1.00 off an adult meal. Their address is 930 NE 1126 RD.
