The Wall That Heals is a traveling, three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Spanning 375 feet in length and standing 7.5 feet high at its tallest point, it bears the names of the more than 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War.
The exhibit also includes a mobile Education Center featuring photos of "Homefront Heroes," digital displays of those honored on the Wall, and items left at the Memorial in D.C. It is designed to travel across the country, bringing the Memorial’s powerful experience to those who may not have the opportunity to visit the national monument in person.
Why Is It Such an Honor to Host?
Being selected as a host site is a rare privilege, as the exhibit only visits a limited number of communities across the United States each year. Hosting the Wall is significant for several reasons:
- A Space for Healing: For many veterans and their families, the Wall provides a peaceful environment to reflect, pay their respects, and find closure.
- Educational Impact: It serves as a living history lesson, teaching younger generations about the service and sacrifice of Vietnam veterans and the impact of the war on our nation.
- Community Unity: Bringing the Wall to town requires a massive volunteer effort, uniting local organizations, businesses, and individuals in a common cause to honor our heroes.
- Bringing the Memorial Home: It allows local veterans to visit their fallen brothers and sisters in their own "backyard," surrounded by the support of their neighbors and friends.
The Wall That Heals is more than just a monument; it is a place of transformation and a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom. We invite everyone to visit, reflect, and help us honor those who served.
The wall will arrive in Butler on April 28th. It will officially open at 10am on April 30th. Closing Ceremony at 1:45pm on May 3rd.
