The Butler Lions Club Radio Auction has set this year’s date for the live broadcast for April 6th 7th 8th and 9th. The radio auction was the brainstorm of the Late Bill Thornton owner, and founder of KMOE Radio Station and since that date in the late 1970’s, the yearly Butler Lions Club has sponsored and used the facility of 92.1 radio station to broadcast the annual radio auction. Through the hard work of the Lions Club members and the area merchants willingness to give donations to be auctioned, many community and human needs have been fulfilled.
Community improvement, youth sponsorship, sight
conservation, and the annual Easter Egg Hunt are just a few of the activities of
their local club, which was established in Butler over 50 years ago. In the last
six months alone, the Butler Lions Club has provided several local children
with eyeglasses they were unable to afford.
At this time of the year, few are reminded that
throughout the world, community and human needs are growing. Today more than
one million Lions in more than 150 countries are helping the young, befriending
the elderly, providing the necessities of life to less privileged families and
making communities better places in which to live. Still those needs continue
to grow, and more hands are required to provide these critical services.
If you would like to participate in the radio auction this
year, contact any Lions Club Member or watch for a Lion to arrive at your
business in the next few weeks to ask for a donation for an item to auction
off, during the 2 hour program.
It doesn’t take a large donation to get noticed during
the Butler Lions Club Radio Auction, multiple small items can be auctioned off
each night and monetary donations will be noted several times each night.
The date of the radio auction again….. has been set for
April 6th through the 9th
from the studios of our local hometown radio station 92.1 The Lions Club members will take the mic from
the basement of Community First Bank from 5 pm until 7 pm. Bids may be placed
by calling 660-679-3135.
