On Saturday, November 1, 2025, just after 3:30 p.m. Cass County deputies were made aware of a theft in progress at a retail store located at 510 Markey Pkwy in Belton. There was deemed to be a felony amount of items taken from the store.
Deputies,
along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, spotted a vehicle matching the
description of the one involved in the theft heading northbound on I-49 near
155th St.
The driver
pulled to the shoulder in an attempt to yield after a stop was initiated.
However, she entered the highway and began accelerating right before making a
complete stop.
To prevent a
pursuit, a Cass County deputy successfully deployed his grappler bumper device.
The driver
and passenger of the vehicle were non-compliant for approximately five minutes
once the grappler was deployed.
Both the
driver and passenger were eventually taken to the Belton Jail where they await
charges from the Belton Police Department.
