Defective Taillight Leads To Pursuit And Arrest

On Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 at around 2:20 a.m., a Cass County deputy attempted to make a vehicle stop on a vehicle heading northbound on I-49 in rural Peculiar.

The vehicle had a defective taillight — and the driver began to accelerate as the deputy activated his emergency lights.

As the pursuit passed by North Cass Parkway, the Belton Missouri Police Department successfully deployed tire deflation devices.

The pursuit continued near Red Bridge Road in Kansas City, when the vehicle became inoperable.

The driver complied with deputies and was arrested.

He’s been identified as 59-year-old Rodney Camp of Belton.

Camp has been charged with Driving While Revoked/Suspended (E Felony) and Aggravated Fleeing a Stop (D Felony).

He’s currently being held at the Cass County Jail with a $35,000 cash only bond.
