A section of Interstate 49 south of Belton has benn fully reopened after a deadly multi-vehicle crash that shut down both directions of the highway for several hours Tuesday afternoon, October 21, 2025.
The Missouri
State Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 1:45 p.m. near 195th Street
in Cass County.
The highway
patrol said a box truck was traveling north in the southbound lanes when it
struck multiple vehicles.
The box
truck reportedly caught fire, and the driver was killed, according to the
patrol. Authorities have not yet released the driver’s identity.
Both sides
of the interstate remained closed into the evening as emergency crews
investigated and cleared the wreckage. The highway was fully reopened around 8
p.m. Tuesday.
