A portion of Interstate 49 shut down Thursday afternoon,September 18th, 2025, after a three-vehicle crash left one person dead.
The crash
occurred just after noon on Thursday in the northbound lanes of I-49 in
Harrisonville, Missouri. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash was
between two semitrucks and an SUV.
Preliminary
investigation findings show that a semitruck failed to stop for traffic
congestion from an earlier non-injury crash. The driver of a semi truck failed
to stop for the conjestion, rear-ending an SUV and another semi ruck before
veering off the highway and overturning. The driver of the SUV was killed in
the crash, the highway patrol said.
I-49 was
reopened just before 9 p.m. Thursday.
