Bates County Memorial Hospital

For 65 years, Bates County Memorial Hospital has been caring for neighbors across our community. In rural healthcare, every day brings unique challenges — and rewards.

Dr. William Joyce, Jr., General Surgeon and Chief of Staff at BCMH, says, “I often help patients make difficult decisions about their care — decisions made even harder when transportation, cost, or other barriers make it impossible to travel. I worry about what will happen if rural hospitals keep disappearing. Where will patients go when they need us most?”
Dr. James Miller, Medical Director of Family Care Clinics, adds, “Rural patients deserve the same quality of care as anyone else — and we’re working hard to make sure they get it, right here at home.”
BCMH offers advanced imaging, lab work, specialty clinics, and same-day surgeries — much of it right here without a long drive. Even when higher-level care is needed, the hospital helps coordinate treatment quickly.
As we celebrate 65 years, BCMH thanks our neighbors for their trust and support — and pledges to keep quality healthcare close to home for generations to come.
