Area K-9 officers have been credited with a series of drug busts in the Kansas City area that took several thousand doses of narcotics off the streets.
The Kansas
City Police Department said Tuesday that federal charges are incoming for the
suspects accused of harboring a massive amount of Schedule II drugs.
Officers and
their K-9 partners recently recovered 52 pounds of methamphetamine and more
than 10,000 fentanyl pills.
KCPD said
the team’s “dedicated focus” is to stop drug trafficking in Kansas City.
On the
Kansas Side, the Miami County Sheriff’s Office shared a photo of K-9 officer
Clay next to some of the items seized in a weekend drug bust.
Miami County
said a deputy was on patrol and scanned the license plate that was registered
to a person with an outstanding warrant. The deputy pulled the car over and
reported having reasonable cause to believe there were narcotics inside.
K-9 Clay was
called to the scene and confirmed the deputy’s suspicions.
Once
searched, deputies reported finding methamphetamine, cocaine, mushrooms and
marijuana, along with a large amount of money and other drug paraphernalia.
Miami County
said the driver was arrested, and charges are pending.
