On Sunday
morning, June 22, 2025, at approximately 4 a.m., a 2000 Volvo VNL610 semi-truck
traveling southbound on I-49 struck a pedestrian who was in the roadway about 3
miles north of Sheldon, MO. The pedestrian, a 24 year old male from Belle
Vista, Arkansas, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vernon County Deputy
Coroner at 5:30 a.m. and transported to Ferry Funeral home in Nevada. I-49 was
closed for several hours as the accident investigation was conducted. The semi
was towed from the scene and no further information is available at this time.
