Bates County Sheriff SCAM Alert

The Sheriff’s Office has been made aware that many residents of Bates County have received a text stating that they have an outstanding traffic ticket and threats them with suspension of their vehicle registration, driving privileges, and possible prosecution among other things.  The Bates County Sheriff’s office assures residents with most certainty that this is a scam.  They recommend that citizens ignore and block the text should you receive it. Also they ask people to let your elderly friends and family know because they often fall victim to these scams. You can see a copy of the text on our 92.1 News Now Facebook page and on the web at www.921news.com.
