Zion Lutheran School in Prairie City’s annual Chili supper will be dine in or carry 5:00 -8:00 p.m. February 22.  The online Facebook Auction begins Wednesday, February 19, the silent auction will be 5:00 – 7:30 February 22 and the live auction at 7:00 p.m. Raffle items and a country store will be available. Grace Christian Academy will have their 5th annual hog roast dinner with silent and live auctions fundraiser Saturday, March 8 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the Lowry City Civic Center, 4th & Cleveland in Lowry City.  The hog roast dinner for $10 includes meat, sides, dessert and drink. Children 4-12 years eat for $6, 3 and under are free.  Carry out is available.  Silent auction from 4:00 – 6:30 and live auction starts at 7:00 p.m. Shuttles depart every 15 minutes from Landmark Tickets are available at the school or at the door.

 

The 7th annual Farm to Fork Summit and Expo, hosted by New Growth, will be held 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Nevada Community Center in Nevada, Missouri. The event connects Midwest farmers, food producers, buyers, and advocates to strengthen the local food supply chain. Sessions will cover diverse topics from marketing to financing such as selling through regional food hubs to using AI for small businesses and participants will enjoy a locally sourced lunch. Tickets are $45 online ($50 at the door), with discounts available for beginning farmers with less than 10 years’ experience. The AC Spring City Wide Garage Sale dates will be April 25 and 26. Information regarding permits will be posted at a later date.

 

Due to snow days, AC Schools will be in session on the following days: March 3 and March 31. Make sure to mark your calendars.

 

The Appleton City High School Alumni Foundation will award ten $3,000 scholarships to the Class of 2025.  Applications deadline is March 5.  Contact the High School College Application Advisor. This is made possible from contributions, which may be mailed to Lori Bartz, 14378 NE County Road 4, ACMO, 64724.

MU Extension, Cedar County Soil and Water Conservation District and Cedar County Farm Bureau are cooperating to provide the Cedar County Livestock and Forage Conference at 5:30 p.m. February 27 at the Stockton United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 708 State Hwy 32, Stockton, MO 65785. Cedar County agriculture organizations will provide updates during the event. The Cedar County Soil and Water Conservation District office, Natural Resource Conservation Service, and Farm Service Agency will provide updates on their programs. Also, a representative from Cedar County Farm Bureau will provide a legislative update. This conference will focus on pasture and cattle management strategies for optimum productivity and profitability. MU extension presentations and speakers are as follows: Management considerations for retaining calves post weaning - Patrick Davis, MU Extension Livestock Field Specialist and Investing in Your Farm’s Bank Account – the SOIL - Caleb O’Neal, MU Plant Science Field Specialist. The conference is free, and a meal will be provided. Hillbilly Express Smoked Meats and Catering will be providing the meal. If a call is needed to activate, a call from Emergency Management to the locations above in regard to a community member(s) need for shelter will initiate the process. Available 24/7.
