Senator Brattin and Representative Diehl witness significant strides in rural healthcare
On December 5, local lawmakers Senator Rick Brattin (R) and
Representative Dane Diehl (R, Dist. 125) joined Bates County Memorial Hospital
(BCMH) leadership for a tour of the new Long-Nissen Infusion Center,
experiencing firsthand the innovative advancements in healthcare made by BCMH
over the past year.
The Long-Nissen Infusion Center, which opened in July, represents a
major expansion of services for oncology patients and the surrounding
community. The new facility enhances BCMH's capacity to provide vital infusion
therapies, including cancer treatments, antibiotics, and other specialized
care. This state-of-the-art space is staffed by BCMH’s skilled nursing team and
supported by visiting specialists, all dedicated to delivering compassionate,
high-quality care in a patient-centered environment.
“We
were thrilled to have Senator Brattin and Representative Diehl here today to
see the difference this expanded facility is making for our patients and our
community,” said Greg Weaver, CEO of Bates County Memorial Hospital. “The
Long-Nissen Infusion Center represents a significant step forward in our
ability to provide essential services to our rural population, and we’re
grateful for the ongoing support from our local legislators as we
continue to improve and grow to meet the needs of those we serve.”
During the tour, Senator Brattin and Representative Diehl met with
hospital leadership and board members, heard directly from Infusion Center
nurses about their experiences, and discussed the ongoing challenges and
opportunities facing rural healthcare providers. Their visit underscored the
essential role that local hospitals like Bates County Memorial play in ensuring
access to critical healthcare services for rural communities.
As healthcare continues to evolve, Bates County Memorial Hospital
remains committed to providing high-quality care close to home while advocating
for the resources necessary to maintain and expand services such as those
offered at the Long-Nissen Infusion Center.
