Injured Owl Grips Motorist's Arm

Miami County KS Sheriff's Office

On Saturday, November 2, 2024, the Miami County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a citizen who attempted to rescue an injured owl on the roadside. Upon arrival, deputies found the individual in their vehicle with the owl gripping their arm.

Deputies safely removed the owl and placed it in a cage, thanks to assistance from the Louisburg Police Department. The owl was then transported by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control to Operation Wildlife for treatment.

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office advises everyone to contact the appropriate authorities for wildlife situations to avoid injury rather than intervening directly.
