Deer Hides Accepted by Bates County Elks Lodge

Elks Lodges, including the Bates County Elks, across the country, are asking hunters to turn in their deer hides to help veterans stay warm this winter.

Every year Elks Lodges collect deer hides which they use to make gloves and leather kits for veterans.  With firearms season starting Saturday, they're hoping hunters in Missouri and Arkansas will help them reach their goal.

The state of Missouri donated about 4700 deer hides last year, which was more than any other state. It was the first time Missouri led the country in donations.

The Bates County Elks Lodge in Butler will be accepting deer hide donation . There will be a drop-off trailer at the lodge through the deer bow and rifle season. Your donations will be appreciated by our Veteran’s. For more information contact Jason Bennett 660-227-9143.

The Bates County Elks Lodge is located on Elks Drive just off West Mill Street in Butler.
