Can you imaging a car without a Radio? Better Read This!

Clock Ticking on AM Radio

Yesterday’s morning commute to the MBA office took quite a bit longer for most of our team. We were sitting in traffic for miles waiting to cross the Missouri River bridge. Fortunately, we had AM radio in our cars to get information about what turned out to be a crash in the middle of a construction zone.

I can’t imagine a car without a radio, but the auto makers have beefed up their lobbying in Washington to defeat the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act which would require an AM radio in vehicles. If they’re successful with removing AM radio, I would expect FM to be next as they work towards a subscription-based dashboard.

Ithe Missouri  Broadcasters encourage their  MBA radio members to continue to air the #DependOnAM radio spots. Thanks to your airing of the spots, we’ve had more than 578,000 emails and 83,000 tweets sent to Congress supporting AM radio in vehicles. Now that Congress is back in session for the next three weeks, we need to keep the pressure on. We want members of Congress to hear from radio listeners loud and clear to keep AM in the dashboard. The spots ask listeners to contact their members of Congress by texting AM to 52886, telling them to support the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act.

More than 80 million Americans depend on AM radio for news, sports, weather and emergency information. Removing it from vehicles is a public safety risk.
