Wednesday morning, August 21st, Vernon County EMS Assistant Director Valerie Hardy and Director Leland Splitter were honored to join forces with Cottey College employee Keith Spencer to recognize those Cottey staff and emergency personnel who were instrumental in the life saving measures given to Mr. Spencer when he suffered cardiac arrest at work. Recognitions were presented during Cottey’s back to school assembly for all staff.
911 was called and CPR was initiated within seconds after
witnessing Mr. Spencer’s medical event, and CPR and AED use was continued until
medical professionals arrived on scene.
Recognized today were: Nevada Fire Dept Jason Fick, Nevada
Fire Dept Cody Thomas, VCAD Paramedic Dawn Torbeck, Nevada Fire Dept Chief
Taylor McKlintic, Keith Spencer, and Cottey employees Shaun West, Tracey Kelso,
