The Little Apple News

 It’s time for the popular Taco Salad Lunch that will be serving 11:00-1:00 Wednesday, August 14, 2024. The salad with all toppings, drinks and a variety of homemade cakes all for $10 will be served at the historic MKT Railroad Depot.  You may dine in or carry out.  All proceeds are used by the Appleton City Museum for the maintenance of the Depot, original WH Appleton Library, Moore School and Museum.

 

The next Second Wednesday, Meet Me On Main Shop & Stroll will be August 14, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Mark your calendars and plan on visiting Jina's Junque, 3 Wishes, 4th Street Fika, Bluebird Lounge and Cork & Keg where some of them will be having a Fall Sneak Peek!

 

AC Schools “Back to School Open House” will be Thursday, August 15 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. Students and parents can visit classrooms and meet the teacher(s), snap that back to school picture with the child’s teacher, drop off school supplies, enjoy hotdogs, chips, cookies and drinks in the cafeteria, watch the kids play on the baseball field in the bounce house, turn in Free and Reduced Forms to Mrs. Bridget in the cafeteria and the bus drivers will be there to answer questions about bus routes.

 

The next AC Saturday Street Festival will be August 24 with fun for the whole family, vendors, food, DJ entertainment by G & N Productions and a beer tent by Montrose VFW Post 8820. They will have 2 water slides, an obstacle course bounce house and a bounce house which will be free to the public (sponsored by AC Saturday Street Festival and Ellett Memorial Hospital). Dinner is from 5:00 - 8:00 cooked by the AC Fire Department.

 

The Annual Labor Day Picnic at Immaculate Conception Parish (606 Kansas Ave., Montrose) will be held on Monday, September 2.  The menu includes fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, dressing, green beans, slaw, bread & butter pickles, and homemade pie. All this is only $15 for adults, and $10 for children age 5-10 and preschoolers eat free. The all-you-can-eat dinner is served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the basement of St. Mary’s School, which is handicap accessible. Outdoor tent seating and carry-out are also available. There is a huge country store open from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. There will be corn hole, bounce house and bingo open at 11:00 a.m. A homemade pie auction will begin at 3:30 p.m., followed by the cash and quilt raffles.

 

Upcoming Third Sunday events for the Appleton City Ministerial Alliance this summer include Wyatt Brown sharing at the AC Park on August 18 at 6:00 p.m. and Phil & Pam Morgan, also at the AC Park, on September 15 at 6:00 p.m.  All events are free to attend.  They will take donations at the ACMA events for the ministries sharing.

 

River of Life will be hosting Ingathering3 again this year at the church in Rockville.  Meetings nightly Wednesday, October 16 through Wednesday, October 23.  They will feature different ministers and worship leaders/teams each night throughout the 8 days of meetings.  Look for posters in the area soon or contact Pastor James Damon ([email protected]) for more information.  They will have a light meal each evening at 6:00 p.m., followed by worship beginning at 7:00 p.m. nightly.  Offerings will be taken each evening for visiting ministry.  Any donations to help with meeting expenses are welcome as well, but the meetings are free to attend and all are welcome.  Come enjoy worshiping together with friends and family, and other brothers and sisters in Christ as it is “time for the Ecclesia to be the Ecclesia”.

 

Management Intensive Grazing School will be held September 10-12 at the First Baptist Church Family Life and Outreach Center in Lamar, MO. This is a cooperative effort between MU Extension, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Barton County MO SWCD, and the MO Forage and Grasslands Council to educate grazing livestock producers on forage and livestock management practices to promote optimum management and utilization of forage resources.
