Marguerite Lynne Blakeman, age 83 of Rich Hill, Missouri died Monday, July 29, 2024 at Medicalodge in Butler, Missouri. She was born March 21, 1941 to Henry and Peggy Rudloff in Baltimore, Maryland.
Lynne, the second oldest of four children, grew up in Ellicott City, Maryland, where she graduated from Howard County High School in 1959. After high school, she worked as a telephone operator until relocating to Lee’s Summit, Missouri in 1968. It was here that she met Marvin Blakeman. The two were married on St. Patrick’s Day in 1973. They moved to Butler, Missouri in 1976, where they raised their three sons before relocating to “the farm” in Rich Hill in 2003.
Lynne found her calling in nursing, graduating from LPN school in 1981. She was initially employed at Bates County Memorial Hospital and then transitioned to long-term care, working at Dunsworth Manor as a nurse and then as Director of Nursing. The Dunsworth’s saw something in Lynne and encouraged her to pursue her administrators’ licenses, which she did and worked in that capacity until the manor sold. Lynne then took her talents to Medicalodge where she worked as the administrator until her first retirement. During this time, she led, developed, and inspired many people to make nursing their career. She didn’t sit still for long though and was coerced off the farm to serve as the Director of the Butler Chamber of Commerce for a few years, before health issues forced her to retire for good.
Lynne could be described as kind, smart, loving, selfless, strong, and a warrior. She was also extremely patient–after all, she put up with Marvin and his menagerie of animals for 51 years! In addition to her three boys, she was a mother to many, including nieces, nephews, her children’s friends, and numerous employees.
Lynne loved music and going to concerts with those that she loved. Some of the concerts that she went to included Neil Diamond, Celine Dion, Garth Brooks, Michael Jackson, Bett Midler, AC/DC, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra 14 times.
Lynne is survived by three sons, Michael Kavalesky and wife Cathy of Nevada, Missouri, Mark Kavalesky of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and Cory Blakeman and wife Kristen of Independence, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Jessica Ewert and husband Paul, Jordan Kavalesky and wife Ashley, Lucy Kavalesky, Hailey Brown and husband Jeff, Mandi Butler and husband Blake, Derek Gash and wife Megan, Riley Shelton and Logan Shelton; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Rudloff of Arlington, Virginia and Michael Rudloff and wife Barbara of Manassas, Virginia; a brother-in-law, Rodney Blakeman of Walker, Missouri; and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Callaway of Butler, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin Blakeman on May 13, 2024; a daughter, Dana Michelle Blakeman; and a brother, Brent Rudloff and wife Anne.
