Harry Mathew Mosley87, Appleton City, MO

Harry, the eldest son of Russell and Mary Mosley was born in Adair County, Missouri, and resided with his parents in rural Novinger, MO. He graduated from the Reorganized District R-I High School in Novinger, MO in 1955. Upon graduation, Harry enlisted in the Army National Guard, Battery B 1st Howitzer Battalion 129th Artillery, Kirksville, MO. He continued to serve through 1963. During this time, he was an Artillery Specialist receiving several Marksmanship badges. Harry farmed with his brother-in-law, Larry McClannahan, and then purchased and operated a milk route in the area. Harry attended three years of college at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, MO.

Harry enjoyed duck, squirrel, and deer hunting. For weekend entertainment, he would go to Leo’s Roller Rink in Kirksville where he met the love of his life. Harry was united in marriage to Linda Lois Taylor on April 5, 1962. To this union, three children were born: Kevin, Kyle, and Jill.

In the early 1960’s, the couple moved to the Springfield area and eventually purchased a farm near Willard, MO, where he and Linda had horses and raised Charolais cattle. Harry also was a pitcher for a community fastpitch softball league. Harry always enjoyed camping, hunting, and spending time in the woods with his sons and grandsons, although his sons may have spent more time cutting wood with him than hunting.

Harry served as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and sang in the church choir. Harry led by example, teaching his children the value of hard work, integrity, honesty, gratitude, humility, and loyalty. He cared for and provided for his family and was a loyal caretaker of his wife through her extended illness. Harry made sure his family knew his Lord and Savior, by being involved in the church as a family, reading Bible stories every night at bedtime when his children were young, and living a life of servanthood. Harry never complained and was always happy. You would never find Harry talking about himself or others, but you would always find him helping.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mary Mosley, and his wife, Linda Mosley, and brother-in-law, Larry McClannahan.

Harry is survived by his children, Kevin Mosley and wife Annette, Macon, MO; Kyle Mosley and wife Stephanie, Eagle Grove, IA; and Jill Fischer and husband Jerrell, Appleton City, MO; grandchildren: Kaleb Mosley (Sara), Luke Mosley (Christina), Victoria Daniels (Ryan), Kylea Shaffer (Brodie), John Mosley fiancé Schuyler Baccam, Taylor Fischer Lippold (Kellen), James Fischer (Gwen,) great grandchildren: Rilynn Daniels, Wyatt Daniels, Journee Mosley, Julee Mosley, and Jubilee Mosley, Siblings: June Wilson (Page), Loretta McClannahan, and Dean Mosley (Sandy).
