According to a release from the El Dorado Springs Police Department, at around 10:30 p.m. Friday, June 12th the department received a call concerning an individual who had been shot.
When they arrived to the scene, officers made contact with the victim, who had allegedly sustained a gun shot wound to the head. The victim was flown to a Springfield area hospital for emergency surgery. The suspect had allegedly fled the scene but was identified as 21-year-old Dawson Traudt of Olathe, KS.
The release continues, saying Traudt was apprehended by the Barton County Sheriff's office without further incident around 3:20 p.m. Saturday, July 13th. According to a warrant for arrest, Traudt was charged with class A felony assault in the first degree and an unclassified felony count of armed criminal action.

Following the arrest, Traudt was taken to the Cedar County Sheriff's Office, where he is being held without bond.
