On Wednesday June 26 around 1 a.m., deputies responded to the area north of Harrisonville city limits to assist the Harrisonville Missouri Police Department with a vehicle pursuit.
The driver, traveling at slow speeds, continued going northbound in the southbound lanes of I-49.
A Cass County deputy coordinated the closure of southbound lanes with additional deputies and officers allowing them to grapple the suspect’s vehicle near E 241 St. in Peculiar. Harrisonville Police took the driver into custody at the scene and will be investigating further.
"Cooperation between agencies was crucial in safely stopping a wrong-way driver. By sharing information, coordinating responses, and using resources such as the Grappler, law enforcement can effectively manage these dangerous situations and protect the public from potential harm," said Cass County Sheriff Jeff Weber.
