The Little Apple

 

The Yellow Rose Day is coming, so residents of the Appleton City area, your support is needed in placing the over 2000 yellow silk rosebuds on the oldest graves in the Appleton City Cemetery in time for Memorial Day.  Roses will be placed on THURSDAY MAY 16, 2024 at 8:30 a.m., with a rain date of Friday, May 17, 2023, at 8:30 a.m.  All individuals, families, clubs or groups are welcome.  For information, contact Kathy Gengler, 660-492-7065, Pam Bartz, 417-321-4177, Donald Yoss, 660-492-7218 or City Hall, 476-2631.

 Ellett Memorial Hospital and AC Rural Health Clinic Community Appreciation Day, will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2023 or until they run out. They will have free pulled pork sandwiches, chips and water for curbside pickup at the front doors of the hospital.

The next Meet Me On Main will be May 8, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Let local businesses help you with your upcoming celebrations such as graduation, Mother's Day, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and just because.

 AC PTO presents a “Little Ladies Dance” 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. May 11 in the Elementary Gym.  Preschool to 6th grade girls are invited to bring their best dancing partner to join them for an evening of dancing.  The price of the dance is $20 per couple and $5 for each additional guest per family.

 The monthly Men’s Fellowship Breakfast at the Appleton City Church of God will be 7:00 a.m. Saturday May 11.  All the men of the community are invited to join them for a time of great food and fellowship.   Jim Knight will have a short devotional. 

 The Knights of Columbus will have a breakfast buffet with their pancake and sausage plus scrambled eggs, ham and potatoes, coffee, juice or milk at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Sunday May 12 (Mother’s Day).  Treat your mother and other important ladies in your life to a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up.  A free will donation will be greatly appreciated.

 The Ministerial Alliance will hold the Baccalaureate service for the ACHS 2024 Graduating Seniors 7:00 p.m. May 12, in the East School Gym.  Everyone is invited to attend.

 The Appleton City Museum at 503 N. Maple is now open every Friday afternoon 1:30-4:30 p.m.  Bring your friends and family to visit the 1880 Moore School, the Clark House and the Museum to learn about early day area history. Membership dues for the 2024-2025 year may be paid at this time at $15 individual and $25 family.  Please support your museum with a membership and a visit this summer.

 The ACHS Alumni Meeting will be Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. with a noon hot meal/meeting.  Reservations, including all names of ACHS Alumni with a check of $15/person, can be mailed to Patti Purvis Young, 101 E. 3rd St., ACMO 64724 by May 11.Karen Green will host the ACHS Class of 1984 at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, at Green's Welding. Finger foods and drinks will be served.

 Hudson Elementary will hold their kindergarten screening Monday, May 20.  Please call (660) 476-5467 to set up an appointment. You will need your child’s social security card, birth certificate and current immunization record.  If you call and the school office is closed, please leave a message.

 


AC Rural Health Clinic will be providing Free Sports Physicals for students entering grades 7th-12th in the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Sports Physical Clinics are scheduled for June 12 and June 26, 2024. Appointments are REQUIRED and appointment spots are limited. Please call AC Rural Health Clinic at 660-476-2121 to schedule your appointment or for any questions.
