Cass County Sheriff Press Release

On May 23 at approximately 12:40 a.m., Deputies noticed a vehicle commit a lane violation traveling northbound on I-49, just south of 155th St. in Belton.

The driver of a silver Lincoln MKZ, bearing a Kansas license plate, failed to yield and rapidly accelerated — after the Deputy activated his emergency lights.
The driver exited at 150 Highway and eventually turned back on to southbound I-49. The vehicle drove at a high rate of speed as it headed southbound on the interstate. The driver then made an abrupt lane change and exited onto 155th St.
The driver then went over a concrete median, struck a light pole and hit a curb — which disabled the vehicle.
The driver exited the vehicle and began running south on N. Scott Ave. Deputies took the driver into custody after a brief foot chase.
The female driver has been identified as 30-year-old Christian L. Johnson of Chicago, Ill.
Johnson is charged with a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest and another Class E Felony for Escape or Attempted Escape from Custody While Under Arrest.
She is being held at the Cass County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.
