April's Second Wednesdays, Meet Me On Main, Shop & Stroll will be April 10, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p/m. Participating businesses this month are Jina's Junque, Bluebird Lounge, Fika, Half Baked Take & Bakery, and Cork & Keg. Thank you for supporting local businesses!

 

St. Clair County Cattlemen's Meeting will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday April 9 at Farmhouse Kitchen in AC.  It will be sponsored by Appleton City Feed.

 

The Knights of Columbus will have their monthly pancake and sausage breakfast at the Knight’s Hall in Montrose on Sunday, April 14 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m.  Treat your family to a hot breakfast you don’t have to cook or clean up.  A free will donation will be greatly appreciated

 

Golden Apples will have potluck "Italian Style" 5:00 p.m. April 4 at the Park Building. You are encouraged to bring main dishes and sides that are Italian in nature. They eat at 5:00 p.m.0, followed by Bingo until about 7:00 p.m. Come and enjoy the meal and stay for the fun

 

AC PTO is collecting Food Fair receipts and Best Choice UPC labels.  Please send them with students or place them in a plastic bag or envelope and drop them off in the Elementary School Office, St. Clair County State Bank with Janet Payton or Little Apples Learning Center by April 10. This on-going fundraiser raises money for PTO to use for the children's classroom trips and supplies. Please remember to keep saving through the summer.

 

The AC Spring City Wide Garage Sale dates are set for April 26 - 27. Permits are $5 and can be purchased at City Hall beginning Monday April 8 through Tuesday April 23. Permits to set up in the AC Park are $25 for the pole shelter, $15 for the stage, $10 for lawn permits and these fees cover both days. Park permits can also be purchased at City Hall on a first come, first served basis and cannot be reserved by phone. Maps will be available at Food Fair, Casey's, Fika and Powell's True Value beginning Thursday afternoon, April 25. House of Joy Ministries are scheduled to be at the City Park, Saturday from 3:00-5:00 to pick up donations, but may leave earlier if full. The MU Extension office in St. Clair County is offering a Barn Quilt class at the library in Osceola, 115 Chestnut Street on April 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Jocelyn Wheeler from Hickory County will be the instructor for the class. Participants will have the opportunity to construct either a 2’ x 2’ design for $45.00 or a 1’ x 1’ design for $25.00. The 1’ x 1’ board is intended for those who would like to hang their barn quilt indoors. It is not durable enough for outdoor hanging.  Register for the class at the Extension office located inside the west door of the courthouse, 655 Second Street, in Osceola by April 16. MU Extension, Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), and the MO Forage and Grasslands Council are cooperating to provide a Management Intensive Grazing School on May 7-9 at the Forest Park Building, 206 East 5th Street, Appleton City, MO 64724.  Classes will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at approximately 4:30 p.m. daily. This school is applicable and will provide education in livestock and forage management for all grazing species, though cattle will be emphasized.  Educational topics will include: The “Art and Science” of Grazing, Soils Management and Fertility, Plant Growth, Forage Quality and Persistence, Fencing and Water Systems, Matching Livestock and Forage Resources,     Meeting Nutritional Needs of Livestock from Pasture, Layout and Design of Grazing Systems, Economics of Management-intensive Grazing and     Outdoor Field Exercises and Tour of Producers’ Farms. Furthermore, this program is required to receive MO SWCD cost share funding and may help in receiving NRCS cost share funding for grazing system development.
