Press Release from Bates County Sheriff, Chad Anderson

 Last week, the Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a Facebook post in regards to foot traffic along the railroad tracks north of Amsterdam Missouri. The report was of two males who appear to be of Hispanic descent. The same report also reported that shortly after they observed the males, a female with two children was observed.

Today we received a call in reference to a Hispanic male sitting on the back porch of a residence on County Road 10002. The male left the area traveling on foot to the northeast into a wooded area. Deputies arrived to the area and began searching the area. Drones were deployed along with deputies on foot.
While making contact with residents in the area, deputies were advised of several other residents who had observed two adult males, one female and one to two children.
The Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate the group or individuals to identify them and assess whether the children has needs that need to be met.
The group or individuals have not been deemed dangerous. We are letting the area know of their presence and ask that if you come in contact with them please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 660-679-3232.
