H.De.Wilson 94 Butler

 H. De. Wilson, 94 of Butler, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Medicaloge of Butler.  A visitation will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009).  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm Thursday, also at the funeral home.  Burial will take place in Newton Burial Park, Nevada, Missouri.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Butler Public Library or the Adrian Optimist.  Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.

 

Harry DeVoe Wilson, known by all his friends and family as H. De. was born July 11, 1929 on a farm near Metz, MO. The son of Earl DeVoe Wilson and Zella Gregg Wilson.  He attended Stoney Point Elementary School.  His family moved to Nevada, MO. in 1943, and H. De. graduated from Nevada High School in 1948.

On October 7, 1951 H. De. was united in marriage to Jo Ann Underwood, to this union three children were born, Tonia, Teresa, and Tamara.

H. De. entered the US Army on October 31, 1951 and served until October 2, 1953, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. and Bordeaux, France.

H. De. and Jo Ann moved the family to Butler, MO. in 1967 where H. De. worked for Foodtown Grocery until its closing in 1982.  He then went to work for Coca-Cola and retired in 1994 so that he could travel.  H. De. was not one to set idle for too long, so he went to back to work, this time for his long-time friend Jim Peters at the Exchanger newspaper.  He would work there until 2011.  Following that he went to work for Mullinax Funeral Home delivering funeral notices to local businesses.  He officially retired from that job in December of 2023.

H. De. loved to hunt and fish, especially for salmon in Alaska, but after he retired his first love was traveling.  He was able to see some of each of the States with the exception of three on the east coast and Hawaii. 

H. De. and Jo Ann spent their winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama where he enjoyed walking the beach and gathering shells.   If you knew H. De. well, you would know that he enjoyed his trips to the casinos and was a regular at the local Bingo games.  He also very much enjoyed his time with family, especially his grandchildren.

 

H. De. was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tonia Dee Miller, two brothers, and three sisters.  He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Wilson, daughters Teresa Wilson and Tamara Deardorff, four grandchildren, Samantha, Lauren, Michael, and Jennifer, along with seven great-grandchildren.
