January 31, 2024
AC Public
Works will be cleaning out sewer lines through February 23, 2024. The process
causes a vacuum in the sewer. This will
not affect most homes but some homes that have inadequate or partially blocked
drain vents, the vacuum may cause P-traps to be sucked dry. Should you notice a sewer smell, run a little
water down the drains to refill the traps.
It is recommended that you shut the water valve off to your toilets, put
the seats down and cover the floor drains with car mats on the days that the sewer
cleaning is scheduled. You can call
Shane Robinett, 515-231-0949 if you have any questions. A work schedule map is
available at City Hall and on their facebook page.
