UPDATE: The decedent has been identified as 91 year old Edwin Nelson
In following up on a tip received
at FM92, Thursday morning. Our news staff contacted officials with the Adrian
Fire Department and learned that emergency crews were called to a residence at
1st and Bates streets shortly before 7am on Thursday, February 8th.
Adrian Fire responded along with
mutual aid from Butler, Drexel, Central Cass and Harrisonville fire departments.
Members of the Adrian Police, Bates County Sheriff’s office and MSHP also
responded.
The Missouri Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
Bates County Coroner, Greg Mullinax stated:
At this time I can confirm the decedent to be 91 year-old Edwin Nelson, known to reside at the residence. A complete death investigation will coincide with a fire investigation underway through the Missouri State Fire Marshall. At this time, there is no indication of foul play.
