Butler: Drug Bust

 Roses are red

Violets are blue
If you sell drugs
We are coming for you
On 2/14/24, at approximately 10:30 am, members of the Bates County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team executed a narcotics search warrant in the 500 Block of South Orange Street in Butler adjacent to Sandy’s Herb Shop. Again the search warrant was not at Sandy’s Herb Shop nor had anything to do with her business.
The search warrant was the culmination of a several months long investigation into the occupants of the garage area selling narcotics. Upon entry to the building SERT team members encountered three males and one female gathered around a counter with digital scales and bags of white crystal substances. Under the same counter were several larger bags of white crystal substances. Smaller baggies of white crystal substance was located either on the body of those occupants or on the ground next to them as they were being taken into custody.
“This morning we received a Valentines Day card saying ‘Police be our Valentine’.” Says Sheriff’s Anderson. “So we responded with our own card and brought our ‘Furrrrrrever Your Pups’.” “On a serious note, I’m proud of the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office for putting their lives on the line to do our best to protect our community”.
Almost three quarters of a pound of methamphetamines and a little over $1000 were recovered and taken off the street. Our target has a very long history of dealing drugs in our community. This investigation isn’t over, we are continuing to work on those people who we have on surveillance going in and out of this location. We hope this sends a strong message that we are looking to close down drug houses and bring those career criminals to justice to account for the destruction they perpetuate on our community.
Charges are being submitted to the Bates County Prosecutor’s Office for first degree trafficking with 1000 feet of a school. Simultaneously, the case will also be referred to the United States Assistant Attorney for federal charges.
