September 9, 1937 — January 8, 2024
Rich Hill, Missouri
Annie Amelia Geistdorfer-Robinson was born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 9, 1937, to Marie Hicklin Geistdorfer and Carl Harrell Geistdorfer. Annie grew up in KC and enjoyed riding horses at Benjamin Stables, playing catcher for her softball team, as well as attending the Patricia Steven’s Modeling school.
Annie had four children she devoted her life to: Deborah, Charles, William Jr, and Barbara.
Annie loved creating and painting ceramics and taught classes free to anyone wanting to enjoy painting. Barbara and Ann had their own ceramic shop in Rich Hill called D’Maries. Granddaughter Lisa also joined in and taught youth.
A few things Annie enjoyed were bowling, being a Girl Scout Leader, a Boy Scout leader, coach of boy’s baseball in Nevada for seven years (both Pony League and Babe Ruth League). Annie was also dedicated to helping teach arts and crafts for various Vacation Bible Schools, and also taking her children to church.
Annie also coached cheerleading and operated the concession stand for PTA during basketball season. Annie was very active with her children and grandson Michael in 4H, photography, cattle, shooting sports, and more.
Not many weeks passed when there weren’t extra children staying overnight at the Robinson’s home. Annie started work at Metz in approximately 1977 as a teacher’s aide and soon became Metz School secretary. As secretary, Annie wore a lot of hats: coordinator for sports, nurse, teacher’s aide, teacher, and just about anything that needed filled. Annie also instituted the Parents As Teachers Program in Metz and helped identify special-needs preschoolers for Metz and Rich Hill schools for several years.
As the years passed and grandkids grew, the love of her great-grandchildren filled her life.
Barb adds, “A tribute to Mom could not be done without mentioning her love for the casino. Often taking trips with her sister, Pat, and any others who could join. Annie wore out Barbara and Pat as long as her health allowed. Scratchers were also a pastime for Annie—a few of the things she enjoyed.”
Annie was married to William Durl Robinson, Sr on August 4, 1962. Married and living in Independence, Missouri, Durl and Annie soon bought a home south of Rich Hill in 1971. They raised four children, Deborah Marie Robinson preceding her parents in death in 1972. William and Annie celebrated 61 years of marriage together going through life’s ups and downs. One of greatest things they ever discussed was forgiveness and salvation and it is our greatest comfort knowing they both accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, knowing we will celebrate in Heaven with them one day.
Annie is survived by her loving sister, Patricia Ridpath of Gladstone, Missouri; her children, Charles Harrell Robinson and Jessica of Richards, Missouri; William Durl Robinson, Jr. and Brigite of St. Louis, Missouri; and Barbara Robinson Gift and Ronald of Richards, Missouri; grandchildren, Michael Robinson and wife Courtney, William Robinson, Lisa Robinson, Frank Woodall, Jr., Derek Woodall and wife Kelsey, Chelsea Robinson, Cossondra Ellison, Taylor Robinson and Debbie, Toni Cargille and Allen; great-grandchildren, Rylee, Mikella, Sophie, Corbin, Conner, Kambrie, Kimmie, Coehyn, Vega, Timber, Chandler, River, and Malachi; and many nieces, nephews, and others who called her “Mom” and “Grandma” throughout the years.
