First Baptist Church of Appleton City and Appleton City FFA have paired up again this year to make an impact in the local community by campaigning for canned food and other non-perishable food items to stay local and be donated to West Central Community Action Center's food pantry, right here in Appleton City.  Representatives from both FBC and AC FFA will be out on the afternoon of Monday, October 23 to distribute empty grocery sacks with a note attached on how to fill the sack and when and where to leave it for pickup.  Be on the lookout for those empty sacks on your front porches and doorsteps. On Wednesday, October 25, First Baptist Church Team will pick up full bags on the north side of the city; while Appleton City FFA will pick up all full bags on the south side of the city.  If you live outside of city limits and would like to contribute to this food drive to help offset hunger in families right here in St. Clair County, please don't hesitate to drop off at Appleton City High School/Ag Building.

Funds are needed for the “Backpack Program”.  The backpacks have kid friendly food that goes home with 35 needy school kids weekly.  Trinity United Methodist Church in Appleton City houses this project, which is funded by community donations.  At this time, with the increase in cost of groceries, they are reaching out for your help. Donations are accepted at the church, 214 E. 3rd St. ACMO 64724.  Please make checks payable to: Trinity United Methodist Church, with the memo: Backpack.  For more information, call 660-492-7591.

Parents as Teachers, along with the Appleton City Public Library and Local Businesses, would like to invite you to join in on their Safe Trick or Treat Tuesday October 24. They will meet in the AC Forest Park and start at 11:00. This event is for ages 0-5 that live in the Appleton City, Hudson and Montrose school districts.
