Shots Fired In Cass County

On Sunday 10/22/23, at approximately 1250 hours, deputies responded to shots fired on southbound I-49 near the 167 mile marker in Peculiar.

Deputies then tracked down the vehicle that was shot. They found a bullet near the passenger headlight. No one in the car was hit or injured.
The single shot was fired by the passenger of a pickup truck. 24-year-old Haley Baxter of Kansas City, Mo. has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon for shooting at a motor vehicle or person. The driver of the vehicle, Damion Holman, 24, of Kansas City, Mo., has been charged with unlawful possession of an illegal weapon.
Baxter’s charge is a Class-B felony and Hollman’s charge is a Class-D felony.
Baxter is being held on a no cash bond. Holman is being held on a $500 cash-only bond.
Sheriff Jeff Weber stated, “Due to the rapid response of patrol units and the detailed investigation by the Crime Scene Response Team and investigators, these two were arrested and charged.”
