Plans are being made for the annual Papinville Picnic on Sat Sept
23 beginning at 1:30 pm. The planning committee met Monday evening to make
plans for this year’s picnic. The menu is pulled pork, fish, hot dogs, cheesy
potatoes, green beans, slaw, homemade bread, desserts and drinks. The meal will
be a donation.
There will be a silent and pie auction this year. There are three divisions for
the pie auction: cream, fruit and other. If you want to enter the pie contest,
have your pie at the museum by 2:30 to be judged. There will be an adult and
child ( aged 15 and under )division.
Some activities have been planned and more may be added. Hay bale throwing,
chip finding in a haystack, crafts and games for children and chicken poop
bingo. The schedule is as follows:
Band 2:00; Silent Auction 1:30-6:00; Wagon Rides 2:00-5:00; Chicken Poop Bingo
(prize whoever chooses the number the chicken poops on first ) 1:30-
until all numbers are purchased) 50-50 drawing
Pie Auction 4:00-5:00 Dinner 5:00 until food is gone.
This is the 170th year since Order 11 was issued during the Civil .There will
be stories about how Papinville was affected during this time in 1863. You can
read about the stories in the Mid America Shopper or hear them on the Butler
Radio Station. Many of you already know that Papinville was destroyed by
Order11.
Mark your calendars for Sept. 23 and come to the Papinville Picnic. Don’t
forget to bring your lawn chairs and if you bring a desert use a throw
