The Sheriffs Office has been made aware of a new scam in our area. Scammers are calling residents claiming to be with Bates County Memorial Hospital and attempting to collect money for bills and doctors
that do not exist. Please be cautious when receiving phone calls such as this.
If it doesn’t seem right, always contact the hospital or business direct and
ask about the request. Scammers are always looking for new ways to gain money
and personal information. They may ask you to confirm your date of birth or
other private information such as social security numbers and banking
information. Never give this information over the phone. Stay alert and stay
safe!
