The next Meet Me On Main, Second Wednesday, Shop and Stroll will be November 13, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Participating businesses include Jina's Junque, Rural Roots, 3 Wishes, 4th Street Fika, Bluebird Lounge, Cork & Keg, Bulldogs Nutrition, and A.C. Library.
The Montrose Classes of 2025 & 2026 are hosting the Annual Holiday Mart in Montrose on November 16 from 10:00 – 3:00 p.m. Come shop and enjoy 20+ vendors, bake sale by the Montrose PTSO and Christmas photos by the Montrose Yearbook Staff. The Deer Hunter's breakfast will be from 5:30 – 10:00 a.m. and the Deer Luncheon will be from 10:30 – 2:00 p.m. They appreciate your support!!
The Community Thanksgiving Service will be hosted by the Appleton City Christian Church on Sunday evening, November 24, at 6:00 p.m. Pastor Millard Baker, of Fairview Baptist Church, will minister that evening, along with other area ministers. All are welcome to come.
Landmark’s Christmas in the Country has teamed with Saturday Street Festival to expand the festivities on December 7, 2024. It is their hope that local businesses, school groups and churches would be open to adopting a tree in the City Park to decorate with lights, decorate your business or provide a lighted float for the Christmas Parade. Tree decorating will be Saturday, November 16 and a boom truck will be available. City Hall has many lights to use, however they are first come, first served. There will be a contest for the best decorated business. If you wish to participate, contact Kitty (913-416-2064), Carrie (417-309-9469) or Kristine (660-492-2171).
The Montrose Knights of Columbus will hold their annual Germantown Turkey Shoot on Sunday December 1, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Germantown ball field. Tickets are $3.00 each and advance sale tickets will enter the purchaser into a drawing for prizes. There will be a youth shoot every hour. Tickets are available in Appleton City at Dr. Payton’s office, Fennewald Plumbing or any Knights members.
The annual Senior Citizen’s dinner at AC Schools will be 12:00 p.m. December 5 in the AC Elementary Gym. The doors will open at 11:30. All senior citizens in the Appleton City School District are invited to enjoy a traditional turkey and ham dinner with sides and desserts. Please RSVP by December 2 to 660-476-2161

The 28th Annual Christmas in the Country Depot Craft Show will be 9:00-3:00, December 7, providing shopping pleasure for all. All items provided for sale are hand crafted by the vendors. Returning crafters and some new faces will make this a great show. Plan to attend and buy locally for those on your Christmas List. This annual event is sponsored by Appleton City Museum.
Funds are needed for the backpack program. Trinity United Methodist Church in AC houses this project, which is funded by you, the community. They now are sending 37 packs of food home with school kids weekly. Donations may be made to: TUMC, with memo: Backpack. Thank You.

The Montrose Class of 2026 is selling raffle tickets for another set of cornhole boards. Boards are handmade by the Wagner Family and bags handmade by Kelsey Carter. Ticket costs are 1 for $10 or 3 for $25. Tickets will also be sold during the JH basketball game on November 13 and the drawing will be at 2:00 p.m. during the Montrose Holiday Mart.
Nominations are being accepted for the week of January 20, 2025 election of the St. Clair County University of Missouri Extension Council members. Council members are elected or appointed to two-year terms and may not serve more than two consecutive terms. Nominees must be at least 18 and must reside in the district from which they are selected. Nominations must be made prior to December 11, 2024. At least one candidate is sought for each of the following districts: North District – Appleton, Monegaw, Chalk Level, Butler, Jackson, Taber, Osage & Center Townships; South District – Osceola, Polk, Dallas, Doyal, Roscoe, Speedwell, Washington & Collins Townships. The council generally meets every other month on the evening of the first Tuesday, starting in February. Nominations may be made through the council chair or the county extension center. Nominees will be contacted to secure their permission to place their names on the January ballot.
